Sometimes I Just Won't

Being a toddler is an emotional rollercoaster. Some days you want to put your coat on, you don’t mind sharing and you can't wait to have your bath. There are days when you're the first to slide down the biggest slide, or join in with everyone else. But some days, you just WON'T! And sometimes that’s OK. But, with a little kindness and encouragement, you might find that something you don’t want to do can become something you love to do!

Why we love this book:

This rhyming text provides a humorous take on childhood autonomy, how it's nice to feel in charge, but we shouldn’t always be too quick to make some decisions. Children should be encouraged to assert their feelings and to share if there’s something that makes them upset. However, they should be equally encouraged to try new things, even if they seem scary, because they might end up enjoying them more than they think. It’s a wonderful approach to understanding feelings and mental health.

Timothy Knapman has always loved writing stories - funny ones especially. Also a playwright, Tim's work on various musicals, operas and plays has taken him all over the world. Timothy lives in Surrey, UK.
