This hilarious take on a child not being taken seriously by adults is a nice way to start a conversation about how you’ll believe your child when they tell you something important. Even if it does seem ridiculous. With some repetitive words and a lot of emotion coming through the illustrations, encourage your child to read along by shouting “mammoth!” each time it appears, and prepare for lots of giggles!

Alex Willmore is the bestselling illustrator of The Runaway Pea, winner of the Shropshire Bookfest Picture Book Award and the Federation of Children’s Book Groups Children’s Book Award, as well as being nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal and a finalist in the 2020 Oscar’s Book Prize.
